Client Provided Handover of Jewellery – Duty of Care

When jewellery items are handed over to the care of Tindrah of Sweden they will be handled in a professional manner and housed in a safe facility at all times when they are not being worked with.

Where jewellery items are being redesigned/repurposed there are inherrant risks involved in the removal of stones from their mounts. Stones themselves have weakness (more in items with heavy inclusions such as diamonds, emeralds, opals and tanzanites) and some settings may hide the weaknesses (such as under the bezels and claws). Tindrah of Sweden will take all due care in the safe and delicate removal of these stones from their previous settings.

Where a breakage does occur in the removal phase, Tindrah of Sweden will not assume any liability for the replacement of the stone. Tindrah of Sweden will notify the customer in a timely manner, and will assist in sourcing a replacement stone (at clients cost, at cost price) if it is required for the design.

Confirmation of Design Instructions

A confirmation of the design instructions or a detailed CAD design will be provided to the customer electronically or physically upon completion, within a time period discussed at the initial consultation.

The customer is required to sign physical copies of the design, or to return electronic correspondence with the words “I APPROVE THIS DESIGN” before the works will be commenced.

Custom made orders cannot be cancelled once the approval for the design is given, as each piece is handmade specifically to your specifications.

Cancellations – Loss of Deposit

Tindrah of Sweden commences work on a design/redesign immediately upon receiving the “confirmation of design instructions” (above).

As such, any cancellations after this point will incur a loss of deposit to the value of the works completed.

In the case of a jewellery redesign, the item will be returned in the state in which it currently is (this could mean that the stones have been removed and the piece is no longer whole).

The loss of deposit in some circumstances may be recredited toward further works in the future as discussed with Tindrah of Sweden on a case by case basis.

Time Frames

Custom made orders will take 5-10 weeks depending upon design complexity, or as agreed in the initial consultation.

Design works over $1000 may have a 3 month layby payment. Ask for more details.

Outstanding Payments

The balance of payment will be required prior to the handover of the piece. The property of the jewellery piece will not pass to the client until the purchase price has been paid in full.

Time frames for the payment of outstanding funds can be negotiated upon consultation but should not extend further than 3 months past the completion of the piece.

Finished Products

Finished products cannot be returned or exchanged. As a jewellery designer, I have recommendations of how thick or thin a metal must be in order to be practical, however if the client insists on a particular design that may not be practical or suitable for her/him, in the end it is the clients responsibility to pay for any additional changes to the design after the jewellery item is approved and finished.

Warranty

All items are covered by a manufacturing guarantee under Australian law.

The broken item must be assessed first to determine if the break is from an accidental damage, normal wear and tear or a manufacturing fault.

Damage resulting from mistreatment of jewellery is not covered by this warranty and may incur a charge to repair the item.

Please note, if another jeweller undertakes work on a Tindrah of Sweden piece including resize or repairs, this warranty will be voided. We strongly recommend returning to us for repairs and resizes, we do not take any responsibility for repairs or resizes undertaken by other jewellers.

Wear & Tear

Light dents, abrasions and scratches would be considered normal wear and tear over a one to five year period (rings). Gold is soft, so accidental damage may loosen a setting, break claws or other parts of the jewellery item.

It is recommended to visit Tindrah of Sweden every 6-12 months to have your jewellery cleaned, polished and checked to ensure settings and gems are in their place.

Repairs Responsibility - Tindrah Custom Designs

Jewellery can be fragile, (Particularly older pieces where the gold is brittle and porous), even a well-constructed piece may suffer from too many knocks against hard surfaces.

If a jewellery item is dropped or accidentally knocked, we advise you not to wear the item until Tindrah of Sweden has assessed it and given it a thorough examination. Assessment is free of charge.

If there are any signs of damage, then repair work (at an extra charge) can be carried out to ensure that your jewellery item is looking like new again.

Care of Jewellery  - Tindrah Custom Designs

Simple daily activities can damage your jewellery. For example always remove your jewellery before any household chores or sports.

White gold jewellery will start to appear yellowish after a while as the rhodium plating will wear off. This is a natural and normal process and can happen after 6-12 months depending on how you are looking after your jewellery piece. Rhodium plating is affected by wear and tear, by excessive sweating, acid, hair dyes, perfume, cleaning products, (such as bleach and dishwashing liquids) and chlorine. Rings that are worn every day and that are in contact with chemicals will have to be rhodium plated more often than earrings, necklaces, and dress rings that are worn less frequently.

All jewellery requires maintenance, and depending on your level of wear, it is a good idea to contact Tindrah of Sweden who will advise you on the maintenance that may be required for your jewellery.

When taking off your rings, try not to hold the claws as they may move and loosen which will put the gems at risk, it is better to remove a ring from the band (shank). When storing your jewellery, it is a good idea to keep them in individual pouches or a box from preventing the jewellery items from scratching against one other.
